A little gift for when I'm away ...

Hope you've been having a rollicking summer (or monsoon or winter, depending on which part of the globe you're in)!

I'm writing and scheduling this in mid-July, so by the time you receive this, hopefully I'd have spent much of August enjoying time with family visiting, with little D on the last few weeks of his summer break, and also making progress on Book 2 of the fantasy duology series.

I've been calling it 'the fantasy duology series' for so long I've almost forgotten the series needs a name. Hopefully, I'll have more updates to share on that front when I write to you in September.

For now, here's a short fantasy tale from my collection Tales For Dreamers: Volume 1.

Back in the day when I first started writing these tales, almost a decade and a half ago, I'd often use images from the Internet, reaching out to owners for their permission. As self-publishing became a thing and everyone grew more aware of copyright laws, I removed from my website all stories that were paired with images that were not my own.

'Lateral thinking and nonsensical chatter can sometimes lead to a story written backwards' is one such tale. It was inspired by the image of a large shark-like thing (sculpture, perhaps?) that seemed to have crashed into the roof of a home head-first.

While I don't have the original image to share with you, the tale is all set for your reading pleasure. It's nonsensical, it's hilarious, and it's imaginative. Give it a read for a chuckle and a smile and the delightful feeling of a light, happy heart on this Sunday in August!

And don't forget, as subscribers to Monthly Missives, you get the first 25 tales in the collection for free. Simply head to The Dream Caravan to grab your copy.

You can also buy the entire collection at your favourite retailer platform.

Enjoy the tale!

And I'll be back in September.
