tales for dreamers: a doorway of locks

A dreamlike tale of portals, mischief, and forgotten magic.

tales for dreamers: a doorway of locks

The doorway has so many locks. Yet, none keeps intruders out.

If anything, these locks serve as an invitation, a temptation, for people to walk under the rusty frame and pose for photos at the very least.

Sometimes, the believers think the doorway is a portal.

It used to be. A very long time ago.

People used to pass under the frame and disappear into another land while the portal locked behind them forever.

Now there are way too many people on the other side, so the portal has ceased to function.

For the most part now, the doorway is harmless. It likes being the centre of attention. It poses alongside the people for all those photographs.

But sometimes the locks like to get up to mischief. They never came with keys, you see. One click, and they were locked in place for life.

So they stir trouble by hurling a silent curse every now and then. Whoever passes under them and unwittingly receives a curse is doomed to spend the rest of their lives searching for keys that never existed.
