tales for dreamers: a sticker for a moon
A fortnight ago the sun went missing. This week there's something wrong with the moon. What's going on?

They (the powers that be) have resorted to using a sticker in place of the moon in the sky. A bright white luminescent one, a puffy sticker, to guarantee that eerie 3D appearance of a sphere.
It looks like the moon alright, with shadows on its face and that bright halo around it.
But you also know that it isn’t really the moon. Because of the way it sticks out of the sky and doesn’t look like an inherent part of it. Like the stars and planets do.
Also, it neither waxes nor wanes like the real moon did. We have a forever full moon now.
Someone thought to question why a sticker was needed.
The powers that be replied that the moon was gone. It had slipped out of the earth’s gravitational pull, and got sucked into the sun.
We wish we hadn’t asked that question. The answer was not easy to accept.
But every time we look at the sticker-moon in the night sky, we can let ourselves forget the truth somehow. And instead, believe in whatever magical thinking the sticker-moon was meant to induce in us.
Last week's image info: The colourful door in 'a door of hearts' opens into little D's room in our home. It's a lovely room with large windows on two adjacent walls. which makes it very bright and airy. During a long-ago February, I posted heart-shaped love notes for D, one note every day of the month, in celebration of Valentine's Day. He has the entire collection ... somewhere ... I think!
