tales for dreamers: stairway to the above-world
There is a stairway that leads you to the higher realms in the above-world. But how far it will take you depends on how badly you want to get there. Ready to find out?

The stairway is made of a metal of some kind. It’s rusty and clangs at every step and you feel as if it may not be strong enough to hold you.
The sheets of metal are grid-shaped. When you look down, each tiny hole offers you a glimpse of how far up you’ve come. Not a good idea to look down if you’re afraid of heights.
But ‘height’ is a relative concept. No matter how high up on the stairway you are, there are always realms still far out of reach.
Each level is identical to the others. Ten steps up one way, a small landing where you make an about-turn, then ten steps up the other way, and yet another small landing to change your orientation.
It doesn’t take long to get used to the pattern.
At some point, the stairs disappear from under your feet. You can still feel them though if you keep going the way you’ve been going all this while.
Not a good idea to look down if you’re afraid of heights. At this point, you’ll feel as though you’re walking on air. You may lose your nerve and not be able to take another step.
But you see, there’s simply no way to fall. The residents of the above-world are quietly cheering you on, and they’ve put in place measures, albeit invisible, to ensure you will not fall, as long as you simply keep going.
