tales for dreamers: a crack in the horizon
The sun has gone missing. Something else now appears in its place!

The sun did not rise today.
Not the way it usually does in all its orange-golden glory.
In the dead of the night, the sky and the water have merged into a leaden whole. The horizon that had split them apart since the beginning of time is now a seam, binding them together.
The world feels like a cocoon now, land and water and sky presenting a united front to whatever lies beyond.
But, look! A crack is forming in the horizon once more. Slowly, it widens, revealing the golden light of the hidden sun.
I heave a sigh of relief.
The water ripples. The clouds quiver. As though laughing at my folly.
That’s simply the mouth of the Universe opening, they tell me. Lips parting.
Will the Universe finally whisper its secrets to me, I wonder.
No. But wait and see what comes from its mouth.
If you’re lucky, a lover’s kiss perhaps.
If not, maybe the fiery flame of a dragon’s breath.
Last week's image info: Walk down New St. Stand at the bridge atop the creek just after you cross Nelson High School and just before you reach Nelson Park. Look out. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of 'a black and white world'.
